Overall it was a really good read and I enjoyed it. I know it may not work for everybody but at least give it a try, you will not be disappointed.
Once you’ve seen, you can’t unsee. Everything changes when you’ve looked at the world through . . . ANGEL EYES Brielle’s a ballerina who went to the city to chase her dreams and found tragedy instead. She’s come home to shabby little Stratus, Oregon, to live with her grief and her guilt . . . and the incredible, numbing cold she can’t seem to shake. Jake’s the new guy at school. The boy next door with burning hands and an unbelievable gift that targets him for corruption. Something more than fate has brought them together. An evil bigger than both of them lurks in the shadows nearby, hiding in plain sight. Two angels stand guard, unsure what’s going to happen. And a beauty brighter than Jake or Brielle has ever seen is calling them to join the battle in a realm where all human choices start. A realm that only angels and demons—and Brielle—can perceive.
My Review:Angel eyes was a very intriguing book that had me from the start. I know it starts out with a confusing prologue but I felt it was necessary. I loved that each character was unique & well developed. Brielle is the one who mostly tells the story but there are other characters POV that we see. Jake I liked a lot; he was confident and strong, I always looked forward to his appearances in the book. We we first start the book we are brought to Brielle, a girl who's dream of being a ballerina is shattered when a close friend of hers dies, murdered. Her feelings were raw & intense, which I liked because it made me her more real and relate-able, in my opinion. I loved the sweet relationship between Brielle & Jake. They are both damaged or have lost someone and that connection has made each stronger & together it has liberated them. There is conflict and it was well addressed with the light and dark forces.I actually liked Damien, he was bad to the bone yet we could also see that he was not always that way. One thing I want to point out is the diction and the style of the writing. I love that the diction is very high up and varied. Also while reading the author uses a lot of images that helped me in creating this boom kin my head. The angels. I know that there are now a lot of Angel books out there but this one actually brought something new to the table. It had this ethereal world where angels were in there " celestial" form. Also the cover is very different than most. It doesn't have the commonly used wings but has the never seen halo, which I loved seeing.
This was a great book, but was missing something that made the chicken run around in circles.
